What we can do to fight back

Attend protests

If it is safe for you to do so attend protests and demonstrations in support of a trans and queer inclusive society. Show the world that trans and queer people matter. Do so in a safe and legal manner, and know your legal rights to protest in your particular country. However, do not risk your immigration status if attending would leave you open to being detained and/or deported.

Talk to friends and family

Trans and queer rights begin at home, in the workplace, and within our communities. Talking about trans and queer rights, and pushing back against the media narratives is vital in undoing the harming coverage. Fostering conversation is essential to show that trans and queer lives are a normal part of society, not an aberation.

Write to elected representatives

Put pressure on politicians to justify why trans and queer people ought to be excluded. Force them to justify trans and queer exclusionary policies, and provide them with a tidal wave of emails and correspondance showing why trans and queer people belong in a pluralistic society.

Support local trans and queer organisations

Local trans groups and organisations have long struggled to gain adequate funds and volunteers to carry out their work. Your help and support can help build strong local trans and queer communities, as well as helping break down transphobic and queerphobic walls.
